IMEx Consortium
IMEX has several databases.
The following information applies to all databases. However, they are all free to add their own deposit criteria.
It is recommended to contact the consortium (intact-help@ebi.ac.uk) when depositing data.
- Field(s) Life sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular chemistry
- Website http://www.imexconsortium.org/
- Carrier institution EMBL-EBI (European bioinformatics Institute, part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory EMBL)
- Link to publications
Mandatory if a publication exists, however, it is possible to deposit data before publication in order to obtain a permanent identifier to reference in the publication.
- Perennial ID A unique Accession Number/IMEX ID is assigned to for referencing in articles
- License
All the consortium databases offer the CC BY 2.5 license, but some provide for more restrictive free licenses (for example: DIP publishes its contents under the CC BY ND 3.0 license, MBInfo under the CC BY NC 4.0 license), so be sure to check.
- Possibility of embargo
Data relative to an article is not made public and remains secured prior to publication.
- Metadata standard
Molecular interaction data generated by experiments.
Data must be compatible with the MIMIX standard (more information here).
The consortium encourages the use of controlled vocabulary produced by the Proteomics Standard Initiative (HUPO) working group.
Minimum information required when depositing dataset is provided here. - Versioning Non
- Type of data
Data depositors can submit in any of the following formats:
– XML using the PSI-MI standard for molecular interactions
– Excel files (a pre-formatted excel file is available here in the Data Submission by Excel Sheet section)
– If data only addresses a small number of interaction experiences, the consortium accepts handwritten diagrams. - Related Services
The consortium curates data, both deposited by depositors and open-access data on other databases.
All the consortium’s databases apply the same guidelines for data collection (some may impose stricter rules).
Explanations in the curation manual are available here (in the Curation Rules section). - Volume Data deposits are not limited in size.
